Using the metro is simple. Here’s exactly what to do.
From a central station like Msheireb, the train journey itself takes about 30 minutes. A single journey costs only QAR 2. If you plan to ride all day, a day pass costs just QAR 6. It's an incredible value.
The metro runs from Saturday to Thursday (about 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM) and on Fridays (about 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM). The hours can change for holidays, so it's always good to check the Qatar Rail app.
The trains have different sections. You will see "Standard" carriages, "Family" carriages (for women and families), and "Gold Club." Stick to the Standard or Family carriages to use your 2 QAR fare. Gold Club requires a different, more expensive card.

Getting to Lusail is very straightforward.
The best route is the Lusail Expressway. This is a modern, multi-lane highway that directly connects Doha to Lusail. It's well-signed and easy to navigate.
The total distance is about 19 to 22 kilometers (12 to 14 miles) from Doha's West Bay area. With no traffic, you can usually make the trip in about 20 minutes. Just a quick heads-up: always check Google Maps or Waze before you leave to get the latest on traffic!
Finding a spot to park is usually easy for most of our trips. There are numerous free parking spots available at great locations, such as the Place Vendôme Mall and throughout the Lusail Marina.
However, there is one major exception. This does not apply to the Grand Prix. You cannot simply drive to the circuit and park. You will need a special, pre-purchased parking pass to access the event parking areas.
For travelers who are not in a hurry and want to travel like a true local, the public bus system is an option.
The buses are run by Mowasalat (Karwa) and are clean and safe. However, this is the slowest way to get to Lusail. Most routes are set up for local travel or to connect to the Metro stations, so they're not ideal if you're looking for a quick, direct route from the city center to Lusail.
You cannot pay with cash on the bus. You must buy a KARWA Smart Card first. You can get a card at ticket vending machines at the airport, Doha Bus Station, or at various partner merchants around the city.

The bus will take much longer than any other method, often 45 to 60 minutes or more, and will likely involve multiple stops.
For nearly the same low price, the Doha Metro is significantly faster, more comfortable, and much easier to navigate for visitors. We only recommend the bus if you are on an extremely tight budget and are not adhering to a strict schedule.
Headed to the big race? Getting to the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix is a special mission. It is different from just going to Lusail city, so pay close attention.
The circuit is located about 10km (6 miles) north of the main Lusail QNB metro station. You cannot walk from the metro.
To help you plan for race day, here are your available transportation options.
Step 1: Take the Metro. Hop on the Doha Metro Red Line and ride it all the way north to the final stop: Lusail QNB Station.
Step 2: Connect to the Shuttle. Once you exit the station, just follow the signs for the free F1 shuttle buses. These are dedicated, complimentary buses just for ticket holders. They will take you directly from the station to the circuit's main gates.
Our Tip: This is a popular choice, so expect the metro and the shuttles to be very busy. Give yourself at least 60 to 90 minutes of total travel time from central Doha to be safe.

There is free parking available at the circuit, but it is very limited and fills up extremely fast. Do not assume you will get a spot, especially on race day.
Additionally, do not follow your usual GPS route. Special event routes will be in place. You should follow Exit 29B on the Al Khor Coastal Road and then follow all signs for "Spectators" to reach the designated parking areas.
We strongly advise against relying on on-demand taxis or apps for your trip home.
While you can easily get a taxi to the circuit, trying to get one leaving the event is a nightmare. Getting a taxi to the circuit is straightforward, but leaving the event is a whole different story. Expect crazy surge pricing, extremely long waits, and a totally chaotic, congested pickup area that's a fair distance from the main gate.
